Clean Energy Names James L. Hooley as Vice President, Federal Government Relations

October 1, 2007

SEAL BEACH, Calif., Oct 01, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Clean Energy Fuels Corp. (Nasdaq:CLNE) has named James L. Hooley to the newly created post of Vice President, Federal Government Relations, to be based in Washington DC. Until recently, Hooley was Vice President, Government Relations, Global Public Sector for Unisys Corporation. Earlier in his career, he served as a member of President Ronald Reagan's Senior White House Staff with the rank of Assistant to the President.

"Increasingly, the alternative energy industry is affected by policy-making at the federal government level through legislation and regulation, incentives and credits," said Andrew J. Littlefair, Clean Energy president and CEO. "Jim Hooley's deep experience at the highest levels of government and in managing federal relations in Washington for major corporations will enhance our Company's and our industry's efforts there."

Littlefair noted that it is becoming far more important for the federal government to support alternative energy and natural gas for transportation, particularly given current estimates of world demand for petroleum exceeding world supply. The shortfall in supply vs. demand is projected to increase steadily over time, leading to greater reliance on alternative energy resources such as natural gas for transportation.

At Unisys, Hooley was responsible for the company's relations with the federal government's legislative and administrative branches, as well as foreign governments. Prior to Unisys, he was Vice President, Government Affairs for Siebel Systems Inc., and previously, he was responsible for marketing outreach for Banc of America Securities. Earlier, Hooley served as senior political advisor and events specialist for national political leaders, including Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, and Senator Robert Dole.
